Virtual Learning Space

The Virtual Learning Space (VLS) is a 3D, multi-user, distance learning environment. The project is set up with a group of partners including the Japan Centre, Research Computing and the Distributed Learning Unit of the University of Manchester. It is funded by the Distributed Learning Funds of the University of Manchester.

The primary educational goal is to create a tool for language teaching (in this case Japanese) but one that could evolve organically in response to user and institutional requirements. The system in development is a 3D computer graphics and web based tool, accessible with a general-purpose web browser.
